5. The Industrial Raw Contrast

For the loft-dweller or the fan of industrial chic, the combination of raw wood and blackened steel is unbeatable. In this design, the live edge wood is treated with a dark, matte oil finish to darken the grain. Instead of mounting it directly to the wall, frame the wood within a raw, cold-rolled steel frame. The contrast between the warm, organic, slightly “imperfect” wood and the cold, precise, dark metal creates a visual tension that is both masculine and highly polished.
