14. Upcycled Fan Guard Sphere
Old electric box fans or pedestal fans contain metal wire guards that are perfect for DIY bird feeders. Remove the front and back metal grates from an old, discarded fan. Clean them thoroughly and paint them with a rust-resistant outdoor paint. Bind the two domed grates together face-to-face using heavy-duty split rings or carabiners. The resulting metal clam shell provides a spacious, highly durable cage. Hang a suet feeder or a seed log right in the center of this spherical shield for a highly effective, industrial-style bird sanctuary.
