17. Under-the-Desk Monster Den

17

Turn the empty, dark space beneath your classroom computer tables or activity stations into a thrilling, glowing Monster Den. Hang a dark, tattered black table runner or fabric skirt around the edges of the table to block the view underneath. Cut out glowing, colorful neon paper eyes and attach them to the underside of the table, illuminating them with a low-voltage, purple UV blacklight strip running along the frame.

When the classroom lights are dimmed, the space beneath the tables glows with a mysterious, magical luminescence, revealing the friendly “monsters” hiding below. This decoration makes great use of often-ignored floor space, adding depth, dimension, and a touch of thrilling sensory exploration to the room that is perfect for science experiments, storytelling hours, or quiet reading time.
