Create a dreamy, ethereal floating cloud fixture that casts a warm, ambient glow across your ceiling.
- Materials Needed: A white paper lantern, a massive bag of synthetic polyester fiberfill (stuffing), a hot glue gun with plenty of glue sticks, and a battery-operated LED fairy light string or puck light.
- How to Make It:
- Assemble your white paper lantern according to the package instructions, inserting the wire frame to keep it rounded.
- Insert your battery-operated LED fairy lights inside the lantern, feeding the battery pack out through the top opening or hiding it inside the structure.
- Heat up your hot glue gun. Working in small sections, place a dab of glue onto the paper lantern and press small handfuls of the polyester fiberfill firmly onto it.
- Continue building up layers of stuffing, fluffing and pulling the fibers outward so the entire surface resembles a billowing cumulus cloud.
- Hang the finished cloud light from a ceiling hook using clear fishing line, making sure the battery pack remains accessible for turning it on and off.
- Tips: Do not use traditional incandescent light bulbs inside the cloud, as the polyester fiberfill is flammable. Always stick to cool-running LED lights.
- Variations: Integrate color-changing RGB LED strips inside the lantern so you can shift the cloud’s glow to match your mood or room color scheme.
