16. Haunted Book Stack

Create a cozy, intellectual, yet undeniably spooky vibe in your living room or study with a haunted book stack. This decoration looks like it was plucked straight from the shelves of an ancient, dusty library in a haunted mansion. It is an excellent way to repurpose old, unwanted hardcover books into a stylish decor piece that can be styled alongside skulls, candles, and faux cobwebs.
Find three or four old hardcover books of varying sizes. You can paint the covers with chalk paint in dark, moody colors like forest green, navy, plum, or charcoal. Once dry, use metallic gold or silver paint pens to write mystical titles on the spines, such as “Spells & Potions,” “A History of Necromancy,” or “The Book of Shadows.” Stack the books horizontally, tie them together with a piece of rustic twine, and place a small faux skull, a crow figurine, or a dripping wax candle on top to complete this charmingly eerie vignette.
