6. Apothecary Spell Bottles
Transform your kitchen counter, bookshelf, or coffee table into a mad scientist’s laboratory or a wicked witch’s pantry with custom apothecary spell bottles. This project allows for endless creativity, using recycled glass bottles of various shapes, colors, and sizes to hold mysterious, magical ingredients. It is an excellent way to add rich detail and texture to your Halloween vignette, inviting guests to peer closely at the bizarre contents.
Collect empty wine bottles, hot sauce jars, and vintage-style glass containers. Paint some with a matte black or deep amber spray paint, or leave them clear to show off colored water mixed with glitter and plastic creepy-crawlies. Design and print vintage-style labels with names like “Eye of Newt,” “Spider Venom,” “Liquid Moonshine,” or “Zombie Virus.” Scuff the labels with sandpaper and stain them with wet tea bags to make them look centuries old before gluing them to the bottles. Seal the tops with corks and drip red or black candle wax over the necks for an authentic, ancient look.
